Quick answer: Three things changed in July that affect how mobile game creative gets made. TikTok now requires a disclosure label on every ad containing AI-generated content, enforced from 21 July. Unity announced Unity 7 with AI-assisted editor workflows and free MCP support, though it does not ship until 2027. And two new generation models landed — Meta’s Muse Image for advertisers, and ByteDance’s Seedance 2.5 with 4K output and 3D pre-visualization. The TikTok change is the one that affects your live campaigns this month.
What Are TikTok’s New AI Ad Disclosure Rules?
The biggest change of the month for anyone running paid social. On 21 July, TikTok updated its advertising policies to require a disclosure label on all AI-generated content in ads.
The scope is broader than most people assume:
- Realistic AI-generated images or video
- Synthetic voices that sound like real human speech
- AI-generated product imagery presented as real photography
- Digitally altered avatars appearing in realistic human contexts
In TikTok Ads Manager there is now a toggle — “This ad contains AI-generated content” — which you check when your creative is either completely AI-generated or significantly modified by AI. TikTok can also apply the label automatically, particularly when content carries Content Credentials metadata or was produced with TikTok’s own AI effects. If TikTok identifies undisclosed AI content, the ad is rejected or restricted.
Political AI-generated content is banned from paid advertising outright, with no disclosure route available as a workaround.
Why this matters to us
In May Insights we shared a test where 100% AI live-action creative outperformed conventional live-action for an eCommerce client on both CTR and CVR. Under the new rules, that creative would carry a label.
The open question — and it is a real one — is whether the label itself affects performance. We do not know yet, and we are wary of anyone claiming they do. It is the first thing we are building into our next round of tests.
Our working assumption is that disclosure is now a production requirement, not a compliance afterthought. Brief for it upfront, keep a record of which assets used AI and where, and do not discover the problem at upload.
What Did Unity Announce at Unite Seoul?
Unity announced Unity 7, with a zero-rebuild upgrade path from Unity 6 — an unusual promise for a major version, and one that matters if you have been putting off an engine migration.
For creative teams the interesting parts are the AI workflow additions: AI-assisted project setup, platform configuration, input systems, automated testing and performance optimization, accessible from the Editor, your preferred code editor, or an AI-native flow. Unity is also adding a CLI, an open API and free MCP support for connecting AI agents.
Unity separately demonstrated an Unreal character running inside a Unity world — the first public cross-engine interoperability demo of its kind.
Our read: the MCP support is the sleeper feature. It is the difference between AI tools that live inside the engine and AI tools that can be wired into the rest of your pipeline. We saw how much that mattered with the Geopogo Claude-to-Unreal connector we tested in May. Worth noting that Unity 7 is not shipping until 2027, so this is a roadmap story rather than something you can use next week.
Which New AI Models Matter for Creative Production?
Two model releases worth knowing about, aimed at very different jobs.
| Model | Released | Built for | Key capability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Meta Muse Image | 7 July 2026 | Advertisers and agencies | Agentic brief parsing, element-level edits, on-brand variations with fewer round trips |
| Seedance 2.5 (ByteDance / Volcengine) | Early July 2026 | Professional film and commercial work | Native 4K, 30-second outputs, 3D pre-visualization of camera and lighting |
Muse Image is the first image generation model out of Meta Superintelligence Labs, rolling out to advertisers and agencies. Meta says more than 8 million advertisers are already using its AI creative tools.
Our read: the pre-visualization piece in Seedance is the more interesting idea. Most AI video tools are still slot machines — you prompt, you pray, you re-roll. Anything that puts camera and lighting decisions back under deliberate control before the expensive render is a step toward a workflow a production team can actually plan around. Whether it holds up against real briefs is a different question, and we will report back once we have put it through some.
Frequently asked questions
Does TikTok require you to label AI-generated ads?
Yes. Since 21 July 2026, TikTok requires a disclosure label on any ad containing realistic AI-generated images or video, synthetic voices, AI-generated product imagery presented as real photography, or digitally altered avatars in realistic human contexts. You declare this using the “This ad contains AI-generated content” toggle in TikTok Ads Manager.
What happens if you do not disclose AI content in a TikTok ad?
The ad is rejected or restricted. TikTok can also apply the AI-generated label automatically, particularly where content carries Content Credentials metadata or was created using TikTok’s own AI effects, so undisclosed AI creative is likely to be caught rather than missed.
Does AI-generated creative still perform well in mobile game UA?
In our own testing it has. We ran 100% AI live-action creative against conventional live-action for an eCommerce client and the AI ads outperformed on both CTR and CVR. What is not yet known is whether the new disclosure labels change that result, since the labels only became mandatory in late July. We would treat any confident claim either way as premature.
When is Unity 7 being released?
Unity 7 was announced at Unite Seoul in July 2026 but is not scheduled to ship until 2027. Unity has promised a zero-rebuild upgrade path from Unity 6, so teams currently on Unity 6 should not need a disruptive migration.
